Ford Motor Company Fund Contributes $50,000 to Help Build the National Law Enforcement Museum E-mail


Washington, DC - The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is proud to announce a generous gift of $50,000 from Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company©. This important contribution will go toward building the National Law Enforcement Museum. Ziad Ojakli, Ford Group VP of Government & Community Relations, recently visited the Memorial Fund offices to present a check to Chairman and CEO, Craig W. Floyd.

"We are pleased to provide this support in honor of the courageous men and women who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe," said Mr. Ojakli. "It is our privilege to lend support to this worthy effort."

The National Law Enforcement Museum is currently under construction in Washington, DC and will tell the rich story of law enforcement in America. From the earliest colonial times to current technology, visitors will gain a greater understanding of what it is like to walk in an officer's shoes. The museum will include a magnificent Hall of Remembrance, where the stories of America's fallen law enforcement officers will be told and their lives will be celebrated.

Brownells Shooters Place High at Pro Am 3 Gun E-mail


Five staffers representing sponsors Brownells, Sinclair and Brownells LE Division finished in the top 50 of the Amateur division at the recent Pro Am 3-Gun held at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, KY. Corey Schwanz (1st), Duane Liptak (10th), Matt Buckingham (33rd), Tony Barnes (41st), Monty Crain (48th) turned in the best scores.

Company President Pete Brownell also competed and said, "I definitely need some more trigger time! I don't get out as much as I'd like to and the Pro Am format was perfect. What a great, well-run match!"

The three-day, Pro Am event was held at the Rockcastle Shooting Center, Park City, Kentucky. The Amateur Division required competitors to compete at seven different stages using handguns, rifles and shotguns from a variety of shooting positions. Members of the Brownells/Sinclair/LE team used a Glock and 1911 handguns and while most of the rifles were based on the AR platform, Liptak shot an AK-47. Shotguns included Benelli, Remington and FN brands.

Oregon awards Harris Corp. $50 million contract for a statewide radio project E-mail


The Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, has received a $50 million contract from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to deliver public safety radios, technology and services for the Oregon State Radio Project, which will support the mission-critical communications needs of ODOT and the Oregon State Police. This is the first work order under a larger master pricing agreement that is part of the multi-phase Oregon State Radio Project.

The program includes those systems currently operated independently by the Oregon Dept. of Transportation and the Oregon State Police, and is the first step towards the ultimate goal of having an integrated statewide network that will allow Oregon to comply with the federal narrowbanding mandate that governs spectrum use for land mobile radio systems.

Concerns of Police Survivors Offers Affected Co-Workers Retreat November 4-7, 2011 E-mail


COPS' first retreat to address the needs of affected co-workers was held last year, October 1-4, 2010. The event ushered in a new era for Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). For the first time in the history of the organization, C.O.P.S. offered law enforcement co-workers affected by a line-of-duty death the opportunity to attend a hands-on retreat to address the trauma and grief they are experiencing because of their loss.

Erin Barnett, the C.O.P.S. Program Planner, didn't know what to expect as the registration forms and brochures were sent out. "For our very first Affected Co-Workers Retreat, we were expecting maybe 20-25 participants to register," said Erin. "When we ended up with 42 men and women at the retreat, we knew we were offering a much-needed program."

Funds to Help Light the Way to a Cure

EAGLEVILLE, PA, July 14, 2011 - Streamlight® Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance flashlights, donated $109,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF), a not-for-profit organization with a mission to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer. To date, Streamlight has donated nearly $230,000 to BCRF from sales proceeds of its "pink" flashlight products, designed to raise awareness of the disease.

"Breast cancer has such a devastating impact on so many American women and their families, and Streamlight is proud to do its part to help raise money for a cure," said Loring Grove, Streamlight's Director of Marketing, and a breast cancer survivor.

Streamlight introduced its pink Nano Light® light in 2009, a tiny keychain light which includes a key fob with the Pink Breast Cancer Ribbon symbol, and in 2010 began offering a pink version of its 2AA ProPolymer® flashlight. The company is donating $1 from every sale of the lights to BCRF.
