You should see a noticeable difference.
To get started, open your Firefox web browser. In the address/location bar type [about :config] and then press your Enter key. (NOTE: DON’T TYPE THE BRACKETS.)
Tweak #1:
In the Filter bar type [network.http.pipelining]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.
Tweak #2:
In the Filter bar type [network.http.pipelining.maxreq uests]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name and change the value from 4 to a higher number anywhere from 10 to 30. I set mine to 30.
Tweak #3:
In the Filter bar type [network.http.proxy.pipelining]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.
Tweak #4:
In the Filter bar type [network.dns.disableIPv6]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.
Tweak #5:
In the Filter bar type [plugin.expose_full_path]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.
Tweak #6:
In the Filter bar type [network.protocol-handler.external.ms-help]. Now, you are going to create a new Preference Name with an Integer Value. To do this, right-click on this line under Preference Name and select New, then Integer. In the New Integer value box type in [nglayout.initialpaint.delay] and click OK. Then in the Enter Integer value box type [0] (that’s a zero) and click OK.
Tweak #7:
In the Filter bar again type [network.protocol-handler.external.ms-help]. Now, you are going to create another new Preference Name with an Integer Value. To do this, right-click on this line under Preference Name and select New, then Integer. In the New Integer value box type in [content.notify.backoffcount] and click OK. Then in the Enter Integer value box type [5] and click OK.
Tweak #8:
In the Filter bar again type [network.protocol-handler.external.ms-help]. Now, you are going to create another new Preference Name with an Integer Value. To do this, right-click on this line under Preference Name and select New, then Integer. In the New Integer value box type in [ui.submenuDelay] and click OK. Then in the Enter Integer value box type [0] (that’s a zero) and click OK.
-Now, close your web browser and restart it. You’ll see how much faster web pages are loading.

Did all except Tweak #2. No preference line pulled up when I attempted it.

Tweak 2 is the most important. Try it again, but leave out the space in "maxrequests"
Tweak 4 is a waste of time, but won't hurt anything.
Plus, someone rep Term for me.

Any chance for an idiot level explanation of what these tweaks are doing?

This will speed up how fast your internet browser works significantly.
Ex: You go to a website and it currently takes 2 seconds for the page to load. After adding what I posted, the website shows up almost instantly, if not instantly. Not too mention if you add the smooth scrolling addition I linked, you will also notice a huge difference in scrolling down a page with the arrows on your keyboard.

Term speaks the truth. I did the tweak and it works wonders over the way it used to.

Wow it worked!
1) Thanks, Term for not tricking me into setting my computer to give me a taser-like shock
2) Thanks much for the speed-up.

I've seen some speed increase but the lack of real fast response probably has more to do with my ancient computer and crawling Internet service. It's barely broadband. It should be Slightly-Broader-Band-From-Dial-Up.

You want detail?
Tweak #1:
Pipelining allows your browser to send multiple requests for information without waiting for a response from the server. Paradoxically, setting it too high may actually slow you down as your ISP throttles you. Play around with it.
Tweak #2:
See above.
Tweak #3:
See above.
Tweak #4:
All this does is tell your browser to rely on the old standard of IP addressing, rather than looking for the new one first. It may or may not accomplish anything on your machine.
Tweak #5:
This exposes the full path to your plugins. I'd be very surprised if this accomplished anything, but could actually be a problem if you install a hostile bit of code. It could in theory allow plugins to work faster.
Tweak #6:
I'm pretty sure what this and the next two do is keep Firefox from searching outside itself when it encounters a protocol decision. Not positive though. A lot of times protocol decisions are made by your operating system, which can be a slower process.
Tweak #7:
See above.
Tweak #8:
