Bus Driver Fired For Helping 3 Police Officers
LINK:The New York state bus driver was fired Monday because he "endangered welfare of students he was transporting when he picked up three unauthorized passengers," according to the Educational Bus Company on Long Island. But as transgressive as that statement makes Daw's actions sound, what in fact happened was what would commonly be described as either an act of heroism or at the least a Good Samaritan in action. What Daw did was rescue three police officers who were stranded in a hailstorm on Aug. 1.

One would hope that most bus drivers would have helped police officers or anyone else who was stranded for that matter. Sounds like a pretty crazy reason to fire someone.
Hope he wins his lawsuit and/or gets a better job.

Is it really any suprise that there is such an attitude of indifference in our society, when so many of those who still have the character to do right are so publicly chastised for doing so? Do we really have a society that is so me driven and with such lack of empathy that we wouldn't do the right thing, or is it possible that there are many more people who would do it, but fear for the repercussions that may come from unlikely sources for what they did? In an economy like ours, it would be no suprise if people would have second thoughts about endangering their jobs. I want to know, where are the moral and political "leaders" in our nation calling foul on this? This is despicable.
