More emergency rooms closing even as need for them grows

In 1990, there were 2,446 hospitalswith emergency departments in nonrural areas. That number dropped to 1,779 in 2009, even as the total number of emergency room visits nationwide increased by roughly 35 percent.

Where I was from the number one cause was illegal aliens. They would use it as a regular doctor's office and clinic and not pay one cent. It was so bad that my old town only had about 1 out of every 10 patients paying their bills. You can not sustain that.
