Score 1 for the good guys.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

I love happy endings. Now let's hope they don't try and screw with the officer

Well done that man.
Foolish thief forgot that PSNI carry off duty as well.
Hoping the Monday morning quaterbacks don't screw him over for taking care of business.

Sounds like heaven is helping
Join us - there's plenty of room.
Peter O'Sullivan from the NI Police Ombudsman office said: "Unfortunately the person was shot by an off-duty police officer."
Allow me to attempt to translate that into uncivil American English : "Fortunate were the clerk and customers of the gas station that this knife wielding menace was neutralized before anyone was hurt. Unfortunately an officer, off-duty at the time, will have to live with the consequences this robber created."
There, even kept the emphasis adverb intact and didn't change the facts of the account. Surely nobody will complain.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
