Layoffs to gut East St. Louis police force
The Rev. Joseph Tracy said he’s tired of going to funerals. And now, he suspects he’ll be going to more of them.
"It’s open field day now," said Tracy, the pastor of Straightway Baptist Church here. "The criminals are going to run wild."
Gang activity. Drug dealing. Cold-blooded killing. Tracy worries that a decision to shrink the police force by almost 30 percent will bring more of everything.

Unfortunately it'll be the cops working alone that will suffer. I wouldn't go on calls until backup shows up. Period. Oh well.
That which does not kill me, better start fucking running.

Been to East Saint before because there are a couple, ok, one, particular suit store that my father likes. I was the armed one, and we went during the daylight. At the academy there were stories told about not so subtle mistreatment of officers by their admin, i.e. making a caucasian officer work midnight shift foot patrol in downtown.
It's been historically documented on the stranglehold that crime and poverty have on that particular community, and there are still beautiful people living there that deserve proper protection. This is just sad since it seems both sides would not compromise a to relive a poor economic situation, still I cannot now, nor ever, advocate the layoff of police officers.Romans 8:28-31
