Ohio Six Year Old Turns Up On Terror Watch List

(June 26) – The father of a 6-year-old Ohio girl who turned up on the U.S. government's terror watch list says the worst thing his daughter has ever done is probably been mean to her sister.

But Santhosh Thomas, a doctor from Westlake, Ohio, says he's sure that's not enough to land his 6-year-old Alyssa on the no-fly list of suspected terrorists. "She may have threatened her sister, but I don't think that constitutes Homeland Security triggers," he told CNN.

An airline ticket agent informed the family of their predicament when they embarked on recent trip from Cleveland to Minneapolis. "They said, 'Well, she's on the list.' We're like, okay, what's the story? What do we have to do to get off the list? This isn't exactly the list we want to be on," Thomas said.

Thankfully the airline was smart enough to let her fly. Typically, the government bureaucrats were too stupid to remove her.

Aye ya ya! Wonder who reviews these lists, I can see a name coming up, or an alias, but you would think a DOB would go along side of the name, or an age range. Nothing should be ruled out until investigated and sure, it is possible for a 6 year old to commit a terrorist act, but the planning stage would come from the parents or some other adult group who directs the child. Glad the TSA used common sense in this case, occupying parents came up clean and let them go on with their trip.

That no-flight list has always struck me as dumb, just something make the public feel safer about flying.

It's dumb not only because so many people have the same name, but also I think if I were a terrorist I'd invest in a fake identity if I had any kind of history - If illegal immigrants can buy other identities, I'm sure any terrorist a notch above the underwear bomber could figure it out. I guess I don't have any confidence that the list has more than a name and country of residence in most cases.

I guess the airlines and Feds would look pretty dumb, though, if they overlooked that info and someone using a known name tried to bomb a plane - like they did recently anyway, even WITH a match in the list.
