Men arrested after taking 8-year-old boy and calling police to ask if that was illegal
Investigators said the suspects, 23-year-old Richard Douglas and 21-year-old Christopher Stokes, actually called police themselves shortly after they took him. They said the men asked a police dispatcher a series of questions trying to figure out if what they did was illegal.
"One of the parents is out of state, but one of the parents is here in Florida. Can they verbally, you know, give consent to someone else to get the child?" the suspect asked."Nope," replied the dispatcher."They cannot?" he asked."No," she replied.TMore here:After police traced the call from the two suspects, they located the boy and arrested Douglas and Stokes. Both were charged with the felony of interfering with child custody.
