The father must have know something. Maybe he just prevent another girl from being molested. I'd cut the dad some slack.

I disagree completely. Individual judge, jury and executioner is not the kind of justice I hope to ever be a part of. Where is the innocent till proven guilty? If individual actions such as this is acceptable then where is the checks and balance of such action? Assuming the father did know something we don't does he not have a responsibility to report such information to the authorities? If it ever becomes a viable option to execute another human being in similar circumstances then perhaps there should no longer be a need for us or the Justice System at all.

I would agree that it may have been justified to stop a rape if he had caught them in the act, but molesting ain't rape and after the fact isn't stopping it from happening.
What he did may have been precipitated by prior events, and if so you may have a point there - For example if this is not the first girl he molested, and if the system had failed to do anything about it - Then I would blame the system for not intervening, but there is no indication either of those hypotheticals are true.
Just based on the story, it sounds like a simple case of rage to me. Temporary diminished capacity? - possibly.
