CBP in Detroit seizes $5 million worth of Ecstasy
http://www.customs.treas.gov/xp/cgov...05142008_2.xml
Detroit – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Ambassador Bridge discovered 76 kilograms of ecstasy in four bags in the back of a van, attempting to make entry into the U.S. on Saturday.
The van, driven by a 50-year-old male Canadian citizen from Windsor, was entering the United States on May 10, 2008 at approximately 9 a.m. The driver told the inspecting officer that he was going to meet his wife at Detroit Metro Airport and that he had nothing to declare. The inspecting officer requested the keys to the locked rear door of the van in order to inspect it.
Upon receiving the keys the officer opened the doors and saw a green tarp covering something on the floor. Concealed under the tarp were three duffel bags and a large backpack. Opening one of the duffel bags resulted in the discovery of several vacuum sealed bags containing small colored pills. When asked what was in the bags, the driver replied that he did not know. The officer requested assistance and the driver was escorted to the CBP secondary inspection area.
Two officers moved the vehicle to a secure inspection area and removed one pill for field testing. Results of the test showed the pills to be Ecstasy (MDMA). A total of 76 kilograms (approximately 246,000 tablets) with a street value of approximately $4,920,000 were removed from the bags.
The driver, van and drugs were all turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents for further investigation. "This is a great example of an officer who used training, instincts and good inspection skills to prevent the entry of this drug into our communities" said Port Director Roderick Blanchard. "Customs and Border Protection officers are part of the communities they work in and continue to perform their mission with vigilance and professionalism to ensure the safety of those communities and our borders every day."dulce et decorum est pro patria mori

Why do I think that guy may never be able to go home again? I suspect he'll have to face some pretty unhappy people.
