03-05-07, 11:42 AM #21I know I said I wouldn't again reply, but you called me out here.Make stabs at me saying I need to see a shrink and then not want to reply no more is typical, cut and run. I made my insult I can't think of any more valid points so I will refuse to reply.

No one is cutting and running. I think we just disagree. I also think we are two bull-headed asses, at least I know I am. Being as we won't change one another's minds, no use rambling on or monopolizing the thread. My previous posts were long and I apologize for the length, but I said my peace. Its been a great discussion and I have actually enjoyed it. I even did some studying about Rollins in the process. I find him obnoxious and contemptuous. Others don't, and that's ok.

Again, well said countybear. My reply won't be long.
It's clear that no rights were violated, and no laws were broken. The ultimate BS is that he did something that he knew was going to cause a stir (like who wouldn't know that reading a miltant Islamic book on a plane would cause a panic), then he make a big friggin deal about a "courtesey call" he got from the Australian governement. They did not ban, threaten, sanction, or impede him in any way. They simply made the notification that his behavior disrupted some people around him. Their subtle clue as to "Please be considerate of others" went waaaaay over his head because he wanted it to. He is an asshole, plain and simple. He wanted a reaction, and he got one. If he didn't want one then he would be reading some romance novel or tecnology magazine to pass the time.........................

Ya know...I think that Pedro's and CountryBear's reactions have caused this to be much more than it should have been.
Had this thread not even have started, it (the incident of Rollins on the plane) would have been quickly forgotten, paling in comparison to the larger news issues of the day.
We each have our own ideas of what is acceptable, considerate or appropriate. I will not condemn a person for reading a book that is made publicly accessible to the massess, however I do feel that he should have used some couth in regards to the setting of where he read it.
Right or wrong, it happened, nothing we can do to change it. Jabbing barbed insults at each other will do nothing about the situation, save for get people here riled and upset at each other.
Knowing Rollins and his works (I have watched his show and agree with much of what he says about the stupid red tape in govt and the inane laws that we have) I am not suprised at him doing this. He is very much a rebel in the face of authority, but is smart enough to know where to stop when the law is going to be broken. He did it, got his response and moved on. The same way I feel that the rest of us should about it..move on and find something more meaningful to talk about."Sometimes people need a little help. Sometimes people need to be forgiven. And sometimes they need to go to jail."

I think the problem is there are just different schools of policing. It happens. No hard feelings here.
