School?
So, LittleMick started his preschool today. The teacher said he had a great morning, so that's always a good thing since he can be a bit of a handful at times.
The weirdest part of school, however, is that he needed an emergency survival kit to keep at the school that included :
2 cans fruit juice or boxed fruit juice
2 cans of food (tuna, meat, etc.) with pop top lid
2 cans of dessert (fruit, pudding, etc.)
2 granola bars or cheese and/or peanut butter and cracker type snacks
2 plastic spoons
1 small soft pack of tissues
2 small packages of moist towelettes
1 solar blanket (and apparently everyone else at this school bought every single one in my town cuz I couldn't find one)
2 days' emergency supply of daily medication, if needed
1 3x5 card with emergency names and numbers listed
A love note to your child
It seemed completely odd to me, but it's a private Christian school, so maybe that's why??--"D.B.A.D." --Me

Maybe that is why because the list for the public school's pre-K included none of that.

The list also included all of the regular pre-school supplies (markers, glue sticks, Clorox wipes, tissues....).

Natural and or man made disaster preparation is what it sounds like to me. It would be in case the children would have to shelter in place for a while.

Yeah...that's what I figured, but it was just odd that the school would request that. At the end of the school year we cycle everything out and he'll need one all through elementary school even. I actually think it's kind of cool that they were thinking about something like that. Most prepared I've ever seen a school.

You ought to customize LittleMick's kit to include mace , Mag light , handcuffs and MREs.

Are there hazmat locations nearby? In Anniston, where they have been burning off stockpiled chemical munitions, they really push the "shelter in place" thing. The schools close by had to be upgraded to have positive ventilation, they passed out gas masks to the neighborhoods and taught a ton of classes on how to seal up your homes.
