Let me just add that its easy in the academy to look at scenarios and think about how they should be done. Once your own you develop your on sense of people and situations. While many may have called for back-up you may not have that option. If I called for back-up for every vehicle with a weapon in it I come across then I would be banned from the radio.
No stop is routine but you develop ways of sensing how a subject is going to act. Im not saying you lower you guard but you handle things different.
Somethings that make me agree with the officer:
1) He was upfront about having the gun
2) He stated it was in a case (how many bad guys have there guns cased)
Now had he brought the gun into my view and it had not been in a case then I would have pulled my weapon and advised him to stop. I think the officer had control of the situation while both of you were in the car.
Thats my opinion"And don't go home, and don't go to eat, and don't play with yourself. It wouldn't look nice on my highway", Buford T. Justice
