Something that came in handy for me the other day was a Streamlight LED-lighted handcuff key that I picked up somewhere for < $20. I had to loosen some handcuffs while the guy was seated in the car at night.

I would definitely prefer not to give-a-way weapons, for obvious liability reasons.
