Myspace hacker/spammer--how do I get it out of my account?
Some hacker/spammer has been using my myspace account to send comments and bulletins to others (including LEF'ers) with links (if you got something from my myspace account saying "my friend emily saw your pics online" or "check this out..." or anything else that doesn't sound like me, let me know the exact text that was sent, and don't click on any of the links)!
I think the hacker/spammer got access to my account when I clicked on a link sent to me by a hacker through another LEF member's myspace account. Is this happening to a lot of people? Does anyone know how to get a hacker/spammer out of a myspace account?
Do you think this is an actual person hacking into my account or just a spambot? I'd feel more scared if it is an actual person rather than a computer program.

Usually just changing your password is all it takes. I've noticed this happening to MULTIPLE friends of mine. I send them a quick message and tell them to change their password.
Don't click *any* links in bulletins that your friends send unless you are sure of where they go. You can right click on the link and check the properties. If it takes you to any site other than www.myspace.com to login, don't click it.The views expressed in the above post are the sole opinion of the author and do not reflect any official position by the author's employer and/or municipality.

I have mine set up where I have to approve all comments, so I get to eyeball them before they go on my page. If it doesn't sound right, I don't approve and don't click.
I'd send a message to myspace help, see what they recommend. I'd start by changing my email and password ASAP.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

eBay and Myspace both have account recovery processes which you can use to reassert control over a stolen or socially engineered account.

Here is an easy fix, stay off mysapce. That thing is nothing but trouble. I would never put a profile on that thing.
The opinions given in my posts DO NOT reflect the opinions, views, policies, and/or procedures of my employing agency. They are my personal opinions only, thereby releasing my agency of any liability, or involvement in anything posted under the username "Beans" on LEF.

What they did is called phishing. What they do is, when you clicked on the link, it sent you to a web page that looks like myspace and it acts like it logged you out of myspace. Then people put in there password thinking that they are just logging back into myspace, but really you just gave them your login and password. So you should be ok if you change your password on myspace, and watch out for fake web pages.

OK, I changed my password, and that should fix it. Wow, thanks for the quick and useful advice! Just a reminder of how great LEF is, and how superior it is to myspace. LEF is the best!
Now that I think about it, I do remember entering my email and password on a weird looking myspace website after clicking on a link in a comment from a friend who I later learned had been hacked. I'm an idiot.

Simply changing your password is not sufficient.
Please be to reading the link I provided.
If the phisher changed the forward to email, then they now have your new password.
If you use the same password for your email, change it.I'm your huckleberry...

I always just change my password and it works. Also getting it to where your comments need to be approved first makes it never happen, because you can just hit DENY
