Right. Been to the USA now.

Well I'm back in the UK. Managed to sneak in and back without you lot noticing. What a friendly bunch you Yanks are. The only people I didn't like too much were the Border Police and TSA at Newark Airport who were just ignorant, rude gits!

Phoenix was hot but pretty scenic in a 'deserty' sort of way.

Boston was a very nice city to stroll round, although some of the history seemed to be a bit one sided! I mean Boston Massacre? A bunch of rioters attack the Law enforcers of the time, who open fire in self defence and kill 5 people? Hardly a massacre. Oh and someone needs to tell the tour guides that something from the 1700-1800s is not medieval.

No wonder there are so many fat Americans. How can cakes for breakfast be healthy? Sam Adams beer was drinkable, just.

New York was like London but noisier, busier, dirtier and smellier, couldn't wait to leave.

All the cops I spoke to in each city were a bit miserable, until I said I was a retired UK cop and then they were very friendly, especially the Mounted guys I chatted to in Boston, thanks for the police patch (which was freely given, even though I don't collect patches and didn't really want it, but it would have been rude to refuse.)

So, on the whole the USA gets a big thumbs up from me. Nice place to visit.

Only one person thought I was Australian, so I said never mind, a lot of you Canadians make that mistake!

Glad you had a good time Trojan..

Last year was my first visit..and I love it...

The people were great.....the town / roads clean.....

And the Law enforcement people we met during the vacation were brilliant...especially when they learned my wife and I were both cops...

Texas

What? You didn't come to Texas? Why not?

Now everyone knows that when you come to America, you have to visit Texas. OK, maybe next time.

Glad you had fun Trojan. You seem to have hit the major cities....partial to Boston myself and the mounted unit have always been very nice folks.

Can't really compare the food to UK food though....had perhaps 1 good meal while in London and that was at McDonalds. Then on to Italy....not one bad meal.

Glad you had a safe and fun trip.

Cheers!

If you didn't visit the south, then you missed the best part!

Hell, even us Americans stay away from New York.

NY is a thousand times better than what it was ten years ago and a thousand times better than that twenty years ago. As far as the Boston thing, to the victor goes the spoils and also the chance to write the page in the history books. I am glad you had a good time and had a chance to see the brotherhood of American Law Enforcement. We take that pretty serious here. How much did you get to wander about in AZ?

Great, Trojan... Glad your stay was enjoyable for the most part... But next time you go to the desert, do it in the Fall or Spring

I'm with you on any of the huge cities like New York, Chicago, and Boston... I had to go to some of the worst parts when I was there, but I could not wait to get back to Dallas. Actually when I get into downtown Dallas proper, I cannot wait to get outa there, either.

Maybe it's whatever you're used to - Not being able to rent a car and find a place to park it played heavily into my negativity about Chicago, for example.

The people I did business with in the UK a few years ago were outstanding too... Never met a bunch of nicer people.

I'm still adjusting from my recent UK adventure. I happened to catch the best weather of the season. I miss catching up on episodes of Bo' Selecta and Little Brittain.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. Make another and focus on the southeast. Having lived in several places in the U.S., it truely is the most beautiful part of the country. At least in my opinion.

The wedding was great and no I didn't cry (nearly) but my wife did. My new American in laws are truly nice people and we had loads of invites to return. The ranch in the hills of California got my interest.

At Newark we are told go to any of the open Border Police gates from 15 to 28. So we approach 25 which was open but empty, we got screamed at my some border police person to get back in line! We then were approached by the person who told us to use any gate and shouted at again for not using the gates that were empty, so we attempted to go to another empty gate, only to be screamed at by a different border police type to get back in line!! Ignorant twats!!!
