I just tilled in a bunch of horse and cow manure into our plot (graciously provided by the critters). I'll start getting ready to plant soon.

Be careful how much "waste" you till in. As long as it is not too fresh, you will be ok.

The fresh stuff is too "hot" and will "burn" the plants. Some plants will get a yellow color or the plants will be beautiful with little or no production.

I am lucky to have a free composted horse manure site. The nice lady turns the manure every week. She has a tractor with a 1/2 yd bucket.

We will be getting 3 or 4 loads sometime in the next couple weeks.

IMGreat, I'm thinking that the next time I'm working in DM I'm gonna have to figure out where your garden is and pillage it at around 3AM...

Wish I could have one. Can't wait to move out into the country and have the space for this!

Planted corn, broccoli, and green beans this week. I'll probably put in some asparagus also.

Remember corn needs to be planted in a "block" not a row.

Are you planting bush or pole beans?
(bush produces faster, pole takes longer but keeps producing longer)

Asparagus will take a few years to produce. If you can find it in the wild, it is better than homegrown.
