At our state fair they have/had Deep Fried Butter! They basically take cubes from a stick of butter and roll it in breading/coating of some kind, then freeze it. Then they dump it in the deep fryer. Supposedly it is really good.

I've had a chocolate/bacon candy bar that was surprisingly good.

Deep fried butter sounds delicious yet sickeningly rich. Go and try it and report back!

I wonder if they have an ambulance standing by that has a direct link to the cardiac wing in the hospital.

FREE BOBO AND SNAPS
I have been to enough fairs and heard his rant. The boss would not put up with anyone acting out as this article states. Since I am not allowed to interview the carnival workers anymore I may never get the whole story.

And to report this on the last day of the fair?
I am going to Lori Chappell's office again to see if my request for an interview is still being considered.

I do not.
The carnival worker interviews was just to give people a behind the scenes look at the fair.

Day 2
I caught my friend Leonard entertaining a few fair-goers. Leonard has watched the main traffic gate at the fair for over 15 years.
Today is tractor day!
Now I am hungry!

St. John's Basilica
This is one of my regular stops during the fair. I know a few people working here.
Mmm, donuts!

Meet Kelsey.
This is her third year working at the fair. She is a pharmacy student. Her main job this year was to assist in getting me refreshments for my snacks.

Fair Squares!
The controversial snack at the fair this year.
Some Vendors Upset By Fair Squares - Video - KCCI Des Moines
They were selling up to 2200/day?!
That was a huge brick-o-krispies! Kelsey said this was to show there was enough marshmallows in the brick.

CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON
This was actually sold outside the fairgrounds just across the street.
I actually finished both strips of chocolate covered bacon.
There are two things I would do different. One, use an enrobing chocolate. They used some kind of chocolate sauce. Two, I would use a better quality bacon. Theirs was not too bad, but it needed more smokiness and salt.
