It has come to our attention that there is an egregious error in the June 2012 issue of American Police Beat. On page 19 of that issue, there is an article entitled, “Spending probe leads to boss’s resignation.” The article identifies former Delaware County Ohio Sheriff Walter L. Davis III incorrectly as the sheriff of Union County, Ohio. We’re very grateful that Union County, Ohio Sheriff Malcum J. “Jamie” Patton took the time to let us know about the error.
Delaware and Union counties share a common border but they are obviously two different areas and are served by two different law enforcement agencies.
Please be advised that the article about former Delaware County, Ohio Sheriff Walter L. Davis III’s resignation erroneously identifies Walter L. Davis III as the former sheriff of Union County, when in fact the Sheriff of Union County, Ohio is Sheriff Malcum J. “Jamie” Patton.
We apologize for the error and any confusion it may have caused.

This statement is true however, the photograph used is not a photograph of the Honor Guard competition. This photograph is actually the memorial wreath after it has been placed at the Police Memorial wall. The wreath is not a part of the Honor Guard competition.
Respectfully, Lieutenant KR Brown
