Reserve officers with the Harris County Sheriff's Office will be the focus of a new documentary film, titled "The Reserves." The film, which is currently being shot, is scheduled for release in the summer of 2010. It will feature the HCSO Reserve Deputy Command, a diverse volunteer group made up of over 230 Harris County citizens. The Reserves will highlight some of these ordinary citizens with an extraordinary commitment to public service, who regularly volunteer to pin on a badge, strap on a gun and do the same dangerous work as any full-time law enforcement officer, all for no pay. "The Reserves will tell the stories of some of these unsung heroes," said filmmaker and HCSO Reserve Deputy Adela Justice. "These folks are our neighbors, coworkers and friends, and they serve our community in ways that are difficult for most of us to imagine." While action scenes range from academy training, Marine Patrol, criminal warrants division to District Patrol, the primary focus of this film is the group of people who make up the Harris County Reserve organization. "I am thrilled that the men and women of HCSO Reserve Deputy Command will the subject of this documentary film," said Reserve Chief Deputy K. Maples. "It is well-deserved attention."
