|LAPD goes with KDH Defense Systems for body armor|
After an extended period of research and testing, the Los Angeles Police Department has awarded KDH Defense Systems a multi-year contract for concealable ballistic armor and polyethylene special threat plates for all sworn personnel. The agency is the third largest in the United States. “The LAPD’s criteria was extremely specific when it came to performance against special threat ammunition testing,” noted Paul Larkin, an official with the company. “All of the ballistic testing and verification was conducted at an NIJ approved ballistic laboratory.”
The “officer wear” test was conducted on both male and female officers with Level II and Level IIIA armor over a thirty-day period.
Following this extensive testing, the Los Angeles PD announced that KDH Defense Systems was the only body armor manufacturer who had met the LAPD’s specifications.
Experts say one of the key factors that resulted in KDH receiving the award was the performance of KDH’s advanced LTST and LTSTF special threat series ballistic systems which met the LAPD’s rigid specifications.
