I purchased a set of Hatch Kevlar Gloves at Military Clothing sales in March 2004 for my second tour in Iraq. The gloves lasted me through that complete tour. I then wore them for my third tour to Iraq in 2006. The gloves have served me well. Recently in Nov 2007 they were beginning to show signs of wear.
I was going to throw them away, but decided to sow them up on the sewing machine. I was wearing them in my garage while I was cutting wood with my Ryobi circular saw. I was 12 feet up installing an attic door trimming out the door. As I was sawing my index finger got in the way, the blade caught on my finger and the glove pulling it into the saw. I let go of the saw and felt extreme pain, the glove and my hand were inside of the blade housing. I jerked my finger out getting squirted in my face by blood. My hand was immediately in blood and I could not tell how much damage had been done. I rushed inside and saw the two small chunks pulled out of the pad of my finger. The red spot on the left was the worst due to the blade hitting the bone. I thought that it would have been worse but after going back out to the saw and pulling the glove out of the blade housing. The glove was stuck on the teeth of the blade. I then realized that the Hatch Glove had saved my finger.
I just wanted to say thanks for making such durable set of gloves. I am very proud to wear your gloves and have been telling my entire group soldier buddies how this glove saved my finger.
