| MSV enables multi-state interoperability |
Mobile Satellite Ventures, using their North American satellite communications network, will operate two simple, push-to-talk communications networks that will link for federal, state, local, and private sector public safety agencies located throughout Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.The networks, known as Mid-Atlantic States Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroups (MSMART) have been jointly formed by the Allegany County, Maryland Department of Public Safety, Emergency Management Division; the Mineral County, West Virginia Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security/9-1-1; and the Preston County, West Virginia Office of Emergency Management and E-9-1-1. The MSMART talkgroups operate on the MSV satellite communications network. These talkgroups will enable critical and interoperable communications among emergency responders and public safety officials throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. All public safety agencies operating in the Mid-Atlantic Region with active accounts on the MSV network are eligible and encouraged to join these talkgroups by applying to the Allegany County, Maryland Department of Public Safety, Emergency Management Division.
